Developing your child's individual potential.

Our Christmas production this year was 'THE PEACE CHILD' and children in both KS1 and KS2 performed brilliantly, singing, dancing and acting the story of two feuding tribes divided by a river.

Year 5/6 RESIDENTIAL VISIT TO SNOWDONIA - June 2008

This was a shared visit with pupils from Holme Lacy School.

Miss Jones and Mrs Huyton took children in years 5 and 6 to visit Ty Gwyn Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Snowdonia. They did canoeing ( in the pouring rain), caving, rock climbing, orienteering, beach walk ( they found dog-fish, jelly fish and collected 3 bags of litter as their contribution to International Surfing Day), recycling activity, blind-line, assault course, archery, problem-solving challenges. A good time was had by all.

Y5/6 LONDON VISIT

The children from years 5 and 6 arrived back safely from an eventful trip to London . Not only did they go to see ‘Grease’ and ‘The Sound of Music’ but they visited museums and art galleries, went ice skating and had an unexpected visit to Parliament and the House of Lords where they met Jim Knight, Minister for Schools and David Cameron as well as Paul Keetch who ‘fixed-it’ for them. It was an exhausting few days but very worthwhile and we hope to repeat the trip next year.

Pottery Project… at John Kyrle High School

KS2 pupils worked on their clay skills, making  relief tiles on an Egyptian theme. The results are stunning and  some of the images can be viewed in 'the Gallery' on this website.

This follows on from a previous workshop on using slabwork to build 'houses'.

Christmas Businesses… 2008

KS2 children put their numeracy, literacy and design skills into practice working as small businesses. They had to make products to sell at the Christmas bazaar and their task was to organise the ‘business’ so that they kept track of costs, packaged and advertised their products and… made a profit. This was a very successful activity and the groups made cards, decorations, calendars and gift bags. the focus was on recycling and re-using and the children used old magazines, last year's cards and recycled paper for making their products. An overall profit of £80 was made and this will be put towards the PLAYGROUND PROJECT.

KS1 children made delicious cakes, gingerbread men and meringues to sell at the bazaar!

D.T. workshop

Visiting artist, Adrienne Craddock, led the KS2 children in a Christmas crafts workshop. They made tree decorations from carrier bags - very ingenious!
